With Legion's mods integrated back into the mainline I2Phex CVS (thanks Legion!), we've got a new 0.1.1.31 release ready. In addition, there is a new platform independent installer, built directly out of the cvs code using izpack and launch4j.

The full installation package can be found at:
http://dev.i2p.net/i2p/i2phex_0.1.1.31_install.exe (pgp sig [link: dev.i2p.net])

Windows users can just run that, installing it into a directory "next to" your I2P installation directory (e.g. if you install I2P in the default location - C:\Program Files\i2p, you should install I2Phex in C:\Program Files\i2phex). *nix/osx users can instead run "java -jar i2phex_0.1.1.31_install.exe", installing it next to their I2P install.

The installer should create an i2phex icon on your desktop and a start menu folder with i2phex and an uninstaller. Whenever you want to run I2Phex, just use either of those, or run the I2Phex.exe in the I2Phex installation directory. *nix/osx users can just use "java -jar i2phex.exe" in the I2Phex installation directory, or can work through the optional shell scripts.

(note: I haven't tested the above on windows yet, so please let me know if there are any problems! It does use the same process as the I2P installer though, so it should be ok)

There is also a non-exe version up at:
http://dev.i2p.net/i2p/i2phex_0.1.1.31.zip (pgp sig [link: dev.i2p.net])

This is the plain i2phex without an installer - just unzip it and run the included I2Phex.exe. You won't get a start menu, desktop icon, or uninstaller, but you may not care.

There is also i2phex's "source" release available [link: dev.i2p.net] (pgp sig [link: dev.i2p.net]), but that only includes the partial export that phex's original "makeRelease" bundles. To build from source, I recommend:
Code:
cvs -d :pserver:anoncvs@cvs.i2p.net/cvsroot co i2phex
cd build
ant makeRelease

This builds release/i2phex_0.1.1.31_install.exe and the rest. That ant script assumes ../i2p/ is the i2p source directory, with everything built, plus the contents of ../i2p/build/ available at ../i2p/lib/ (this last restriction will be removed later)
Download:
http://dev.i2p.net/i2p/i2phex_0.1.1.31_install.exe
http://dev.i2p.net/i2p/i2phex_0.1.1.31.zip

changelog:
0.1.1.31
- merged Legion's code into CVS (thanks Legion!)
- new izpack installer
0.1.1.30 (Legion's Updated Build)
- Added systray4j, included timing changes thanks to striker's comments.
Thus transfers should be somewhat improved.  The systray code is not perfect,
it is functional.  Upload queueing still has problems, couldn't yet figure out
what is wrong with it.  So for now just disable upload queueing, new installs
should have it disabled by default
0.1.1.29 (Legion's Updated Build)
- Removed custom launcher, included integrated launcher. :P
An additionalcustom tool planned for the next release.
0.1.1.28 [skipped]

Yeah so you see there is no need for a planetpeer edition anymore.  ;)

Anyways there is not much difference between legion's 0.1.1.30 and jrandom's 0.1.1.31, other than the installer and perhaps some minor settings which jrandom might have decided not to use.

After reading through the forums and given the conflict between jrandom and legion, it seems that maybe both should rename their distributions as jrandom and legion dropping the version numbering and adopting a revision scheme instead.

Yes the client would still be i2phex, yet the vender strings would appear to be something like "jrandom r1" instead of i2phex 0.1.1.31 and "legion r1" instead of "i2phex 0.1.1.30".

When and if sirup comes back to the project his new release would start at "sirup r1".

Also for naming the archives and installers, instead of i2phex-0.1.1.x.exe we'd have i2phex-jrandom-r1.exe and i2phex-legion-r1.exe

I will probably release an i2phex 0.1.1.31 based Planet Peer Edition next week. My plan is to bundle it with some goodies like my i2phexupdater, but more to come later :)

CU,
Markus

Cheers,
Markus

Yeah systray is a big deal for windows users.

If you check the i2p forum, legion's announcement of 0.1.1.30, it states in addition to tweaks and other setting changes, a system tray feature has been added. Only reason 0.1.1.31 has systray is because legion added it. :)

0.1.1.32 was just released, very minor update, not worth most users to bother with. Wait up to a few more days or even a week and the next major release will probably be made. Unless you like to waste your time on needlessly updating. ;)

Granted the new upload code from striker is welcomed, yet as he has said it is only part of it so far, the rest will come either sometime today or later.

For about another week 0.1.1.30 code should still be good enough, no real need to release new distributions, at least not until most of the new coding is done. Anyone that wants to test the latest code can always just download the cvs and build it themselves.
