MUTE MFC Support (deutsch) / Re: Paar Fragen zu Mute
« on: August 19, 2006, 03:47:16 PM »
Hallo,

c) Gibt es Pages zu MUTE like Goldesel for Emule ?

I kennt nicht Goldesel aber here is andren sites mit mute stuff!
http://www.mymute.net/forum
http://mute-net.sourceforge.net/

Über Antworten würde ich mich sehr freuen :)

MUTE Support / Re: Hash Failed on Uploads
« on: July 31, 2006, 09:20:36 PM »
I am trying Mute .5.  Files download slow but ok.  Searches ok, but not a lot of quality movies out there yet.

On my uploads tab it shows several attempts to download from me.  All of them have "Failed" in the hash column.  One failed at 20%, the rest failed at 1%.

Maybe there isn't much on Mute because hardly anyone is able to upload.

Any comments or fixes?

Also: Am I not supposed to use the same file for uploads and downloads?
If not, why does it automatically set it up this way?

thanks,
at

Now it is working.  One of the people who got a failed in the hash column is now dl three files from me.  I changed nothing.  This app seems like it is just about there.  Is actually half decent for small files.  If you can spare the cpu overhead.

With a little more speed and less cpu intensity I think a lot of people would migrate here eventually.  And lots more people will be inclined to share if it's truly anonymous.  Torrents would definatly make it sweet, but I wonder if that would be possible given the big limitations in simultanious dls.

Downloads or uploads normally fails because a route (connection) between the uploader and the downloader is broken! But normally the download will be resumed when the a new route (connection) between the downloader and uploader is made (the uploader does not have to be the same, just as long as it is the same file being shared).

I share a lot of different stuff and people download it! But try the Mute MFC client too or maybe the KomMute client!
Mute MFC = windows client
KomMute = Linux client

Mute is slow because it is made with anonymity in mind (for more info look here:  http://mute-net.sourceforge.net/ ), but it can be "fast" my best download speed so far is 62kb/sec even though my normal speed does not go higher then 15 kb/sec.

About the low number of movies on the mute-net I can only say: Then come on and help us share!

I'm still having trouble. I can find what I'm looking for now but after I download it it disappears. I can't find it anywhere on my system.

check out this thread.

Hi and welcome to the world of mute!!!

I just want to add a comment to this post (the post at the end for the link), if your share-folder and incomming-folder are the same then a downloaded file risks to be deleted! So never use the same folder as both share-folder and incomming-folder!

I'm not sure if that's the problem. I am currently sharing about 250 files and searches doesn't come up with anything.

What happens if you share an emty folder?

Hi Darkside!

Welcome to the world of mute  ;)

When you download the file will be stored in the "incomming"-folder, but when the download is complete the fil is moved to the folder that you share from.

Hi!

I am sorry that Mymute.info is down, but for some reason (the guy at my hosting company sure did't know) Mymute was deleted by the guys that control the .info names! I am now working on getting my sitename back and hope to be back up as soon as posible!!!

I also have problems with mute 0.5! I don't get any results when I start a search (even when I search for things like .jpg or . avi). Also no one downloads from my share! When I use Mute MFC people are downloading all the time (and yes I use the same share folder). I do how ever get all the neigbor connections that I want. My router is configured correct!

If anyone has an idea about what the problem could be (beside me ;) ) then please give me a hint!

[Edit]
I have found the reason (I think). If you (like me) have a share with many files (my case 9500+) and a small CPU then mute uses all the cpu-power to hash and later to check if every thing is hashed. I tried to share an emty folder and then Mute worked like a charm. But when I try to share the folder with many files then Mute frezes and will not work properly!

Does any one have the same problem with big shares?

I just finished adding download queuing to MUTE. You can now set a limit on the number of active downloads on your MUTE node. Extra downloads that you start are automatically queued until a free slot opens up.

Thus, you can start many downloads before leaving MUTE running in the background (or going to sleep) and MUTE will download all of the files you chose, one by one.

Next on the list: multi-source downloads.
