Does someone know which hash method (SHA-1, MD5 etc.) ANts is utilizing?

I would like to enhance my SHAshlik tool to compute ANts compatible hashes.

That's cool! Think about this:
MD5 hashes are standard for ISO files (Linux Distros). And it's a standard to store a "MD5SUMS" file in the same folder with the output of the "md5sum" program.

It would be a small step to use ANts as distribution channel for such very legal files. And because ANts has multisource downloads it would be slower than BitTorrent, but faster as an overloaded FTP server. :-)

Such legal traffic in an anonymous P2P network is IMO very important (hiding other stuff, don't give NSA/RIAA/MPAA a reason to throw the developers or users into jail).

Greetings,
Nemo.

Yes, but to change over Ants from other ways of distribution, we have to wait for a stable release.
IMO a Linux Distro doesn't change a ftp server for Ants until it is on beta stage, even if sometimes ftp servers are full

You're right. :-)
I didn't write it, but I meant an inofficial distribution channel between users... But that doesn't make much sense, BitTorrent is faster than anonymous P2P networks...

I'm still wondering how to "legalize" the usage of anonymous filesharing :?

Nemo.

It's hard to "legalize" non-anonymous filesharing, only few groups like: Linux distros, software developer ( i.e. Foobar2000) and games software house have used filesharing to spread their releases, but for the most p2p programs are illegal, anyway.
It's a big fight with anonymous filesharing.

I wish It's not too pessimism [-o<
