A new project emule p3p has been added to sourceforge. Even though it is lame and I consider mixing emule with antsp2p a bad idea, or even just 2nd and 3rd gen networking for that matter. It does give me a interesting idea.
emule mod + iip + mute = emule p3p
So we would have a client which has standard emule filesharing and mute, with anonymous irc added to it. Since all three are written in the same langauge at least we are not dealing with java and the resulting client would be not much different from other current emule clients. It would help to seriously grow the mute network, bring far more content to it.
Not sure how much work this would require, or even if it has been thought of before, let alone how difficult it would be to do. However at least this would produce a far better client than what that sourceforge project is proposing. Though it does make me wonder what other things could be included as well and if making such a client is even a good idea at all.
I really don't know, think it is a good idea or not?

Ok, given that at least someone besides closedshop thinks it is a good idea... While we do not know who will develop it, here is something for any developers which are interested. It is a early developers resource pack for p3p client development. Contains existing applications sources and some basic info, suggestions. Hope it will help get things started. Download LinkHere are its hashes so that you can verify the download was not corrupted. (MD5) AFBA480CF34F7719C1F72B9C9F8A0450 (SHA1) 4D0B7B31076FE3C8CA1E18E5E2FC0CCAC36D6CBE

In my opinion mixing anonymous and non-anonymous networks is generally a bad idea. When I use anonymous networks I do this with anonymity in mind, and if there are some serious programming errors in such a hybrid client my anonymity could be compromised. BTW: I guess the one who set up the sourceforge project page for emule p3p is closedshop? CU, Markus

Hi guys, I work for eMule P3P. My reply is here, I think I should post there because eMule P3P is ANts-based and not Mute-based. Please, no flame, I come in peace I know you, defnax and bitz. I use defnax icons for my ANts p2p client, really cool, and I suggested it to a lot of users! And I know Hornet P2P, bitz: I absolutely agree with you, here. I think we can do more and better for ANts: eMule P3P is a serious project for populate the network and help people to use ANts too (or only ANts). I hope we can discuss friendly about this project in that new thread . a Fan of ANts ...

Maybe it's too early talking about an emule p3p subforum, let's wait and see. Naturally it belongs to Markus . For now you can talk on this thread about eMule P3P
